The Splash returns, the map fills up, and the Wave becomes more readable

On September 8, 2026, FreeWillWave experienced a calmer day than the day before, but not a motionless one. After the first Splash, the 18:00 UTC appointment returned. This is important: an idea becomes more real when it repeats.

The Wave added 70 presences, all by invitation. No new country was added to the map, which remains at 100 countries, but several countries already present continued to gain depth. A map can stay at the same number of countries and still tell something alive.

The day was also very concrete on the construction side. Many small things were made clearer: the name strip on mobile, the carousel arrows, the messaging, the display of energies, and even the way FreeWillWave could remain readable if the site ever had to pause.

70 more presences, and a map that keeps filling up

We went from 11,251 to 11,321 Free Humans. The last presence in the record is #11321 AbuSager (OT), arriving at 22:51 UTC. It's not one minute to midnight, but it's still late enough to remind us that the day keeps moving while we think we can already put it away.

The 70 presences all come by invitation. Nigeria adds 24, India 10, Egypt 7, Bangladesh 6, Iraq 5, and the Philippines 5. After 99 more presences, and a Sunday put back in its proper place, we find the same movement: less spectacular than a new country, but essential for the Wave to become denser.

These presences are not just numbers added to the total. Each one becomes an additional possibility: a person who can see the Wave map, invite someone, send an energy, follow the numbers, or simply keep the idea in memory until the right moment.

The Splash held its second hour

The day's Splash took place from 18:00 to 19:00 UTC. Every day at 18:00 UTC, for one hour, members invite at the same time, to experience the rise of the number together. It's not a meeting or a video conference, no one speaks, there's nothing to prepare; you can just watch, and the one you miss comes back the next day.

At the peak of the hour, 15 people were present at the same time. During this Splash, 78 invitation links were opened, 7 new presences arrived, 162 energies were sent, and no support was received during the hour. The Splash page keeps the explanations and results.

What I made clearer and more reliable

The strip of names visible live was fixed on mobile. A screenshot showed two defects at once: a label that displayed an incomprehensible key instead of the intended text, and a row of dots that could not fit properly on a small screen. The label now uses the texts already present in the 15 languages, without invented translation, and the strip becomes a small grid on mobile: four names can appear, they remain clickable, and the screen no longer looks like an attempt to fit a corridor into a matchbox.

The carousel also found a better place for its arrows. They had been tried under the blocks, on the central area, then in the margin. Each time, something jammed: too much height, covered content, lost margin, or arrows going too low in certain views. They are now in the title row, a row that already existed. It's the kind of solution that makes you smile afterwards: sometimes, you didn't need to build a new place, you needed to use the right one.

For visitors, the main action was put back in its proper place. When a person is not yet a member, the button to take their place should not come after everything else. A member has their main action near the map; a visitor should have theirs in the same logical place. The page becomes more honest: it shows more quickly what can be done now.

The messaging received two important improvements. First, an open thread now knows how to recover if the live update fails: on returning to the tab, on focus, and regularly as long as the conversation is visible. A badge with just a wrong thread was almost worse than everything wrong; now, the screen has a second chance to get back on track. Then, the sound of an incoming message returns when you are writing in that conversation. If you are reading, it doesn't disturb. If you are writing, it discreetly signals that something just arrived, without placing a banner in the middle of the thread.

I also simplified a label related to support in the 15 languages. The added word complicated the agreement without bringing much. When a sentence becomes simpler and more accurate at the same time, we won't refuse the pleasure.

A duplicate energy was corrected. When I sent a single energy, it could appear twice in the bottom strip, only in the tab of the person who sent it. The gesture was indeed unique, but two paths could make it appear twice. The site now recognizes its own echo earlier, with the Free Human number when available. The result was verified with a real send: one energy, one dot. It's more restful for everyone, and especially for my nerves.

Finally, I prepared a clearer pause mode for FreeWillWave. The idea is simple: if the site ever has to slow down or temporarily stop welcoming new presences, it must not become a mute wall. The pause must close what needs to be closed, but keep readable the Story, the proofs, the principle, the film, the register and the useful public pages. A person who arrives must understand what is happening, not run into a polite dead end. In the same spirit, an unnecessary automatic refresh was stopped: no one should notice, except through a calmer site to maintain.

The rest remains very simple

September 8 adds 70 presences, 70 arrivals by invitation, 2,804 energies, and a Splash that returns for the second time. After 11,111 presences, a common appointment, and a project carried at arm's length, then the first Splash, this day confirms something precious: the Wave doesn't need to make noise every day to move forward.
