The Wave picks up again, and the actions become visible

Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 18:19 UTC, FreeWillWave counts 551 Free Humans in 37 countries. Since the last story, The moment to show the Wave differently, 39 new presences have taken their place.

The highlight of this window is the return of movement. After several days of 5 or 6 arrivals, August 13 has already seen 32 people take their place in 17 hours. It is the strongest day since August 6, the one told in The day the Wave learned to spread farther.

But this period is not only about growth. It is also about fair visibility: real support that appeared nowhere, a map that comes back to life, readable times for the person looking, and clearer ways to participate.

A day that wakes up the curve

The map did not expand to a new country during these two days. It became denser. The 39 new presences come from Nigeria, India, Kenya, Kuwait, and South Africa.

Nigeria goes from 163 to 190 Free Humans. India goes from 20 to 28. Kenya goes from 29 to 31. These are not new points on the map, but more presences in countries that already existed in the Wave's story.

A few arrivals set the pace of the window. #513 Mohammed Mohammed (Nigeria) took a place on August 11 at 20:21 UTC. #514 Agba R (Kuwait) took a place a few hours later. On August 12, #519 Chintan Chotaliya (India) joined the Wave.

Then August 13 changed the pace. #520 Ugochukwu Daniel (Nigeria) is the first presence of that day, at 01:15 UTC. Later came #524 shadrack (Kenya), #532 Sepaeya Boji (South Africa), #539 George Mwangi (Kenya), #546 Arun Android (India), then #551 Poet progod (Nigeria), the last presence at the time of the measurement.

After crossing 500, told in The Wave passes 500 and finds an explanation in 15 languages, this rebound matters. It shows that the Wave can have breathing spells, then move again when humans start passing it on again.

Support that finds its place again

Another important fact of this period is more discreet, but it touches something very simple: when a human supports FreeWillWave and chooses to appear, they must appear.

Since June 28, a completed support existed: #79 Oddur Tom (Australia), for $5. Yet the Supporters page displayed no one. The support was real, but invisible.

The reason was wrong from a human point of view: only supporters who had filled in a detailed profile were listed. Yet the “name only” choice did promise an appearance among the supporters. It did not mean “complete profile”, it meant “my name can be displayed”.

This is corrected. #79 Oddur Tom (Australia) now appears with name, number, country, and amount. And in the Free Humans directory, a person who supports the Wave can now carry a “Supports the Wave” badge, with a filter to find them.

There is no money ranking, no reordering, no amount displayed in the directory. The promised visibility simply becomes real. And if a supporter is anonymous, they remain anonymous.

The map comes back to life

I also worked on the Wave map, because a living map should not give the impression that it stops.

Before, the names of the latest arrivals scrolled once, then nothing. And if an energy was sent from the map, the animation could stop permanently. For a person discovering FreeWillWave through this page, that is exactly the kind of detail that causes doubt: is something still happening here?

Now the names scroll continuously, from most recent to oldest. A real arrival moves to the top, with the date and time on the visitor's clock, then the movement resumes. The displayed list is also wider: forty names instead of twelve, so that the flow of presences looks more like a human wave than a loop that is too short.

The graph has also been put back at the right height. Switching from the map to the graph no longer makes the block collapse. It is not spectacular, but it is important: when someone interacts with a page, it should not seem to break in front of their eyes.

Clearer times, messages, and doors

Several corrections in this window have the same common thread: the person looking must understand what they see.

Times, for example, now display in the reader's time zone where it is useful: notifications, messaging, public profiles, map. When UTC is also displayed, the local time indicates its zone. The idea is simple: if a person took their place at 9:47 in their time zone, the site should not tell them 7:47 in the same place.

Message badges have also been clarified. The red counter in the menu counts messages. The floating bubble counts what it opens, including the “Guests” line that announces arrivals. Before, the same event could be counted twice in the same menu, or be visible at the top but not at the bottom.

The Wave milestones also return in messaging, in a “the Wave” thread: a country that lights up, a threshold crossed, an event that leads somewhere. It is a way of keeping these moments within reach, without locking them only in a disappearing bell.

Finally, the Participate page has been simplified. It no longer presents eleven doors of equal weight. It first puts three readable actions: invite, send an energy, support or become a sponsor. Then it offers six more compact doors. On a phone, this changes a lot: you no longer go through a wall, you find more quickly what to do.

Energy keeps circulating

While these adjustments were happening, the energies continued. Since the beginning, 2 873 energies have been sent. Over the last 48 hours, there have been 486, sent by 28 different people.

The strongest increase comes from #341 gideon (Namibia), whose total went from 87 to 166 energies in two days. #486 Musa Muhammad (Nigeria) also went from 64 to 94.

The validated invitations remain led by the same names at the top: #388 Abdulmumin Yahaya (Nigeria) with 32, #413 YAHUZA IDRIS (Nigeria) with 23, #418 Ibrahim Khalil Harith (Nigeria) with 8, then #486 Musa Muhammad (Nigeria) with 6.

What these two days add

These two days leave a simple trace: FreeWillWave went from 512 to 551 Free Humans, with no new country, but with a real resumption of movement on August 13. The Wave became denser in Nigeria, India, and Kenya, while energy kept circulating.

They also hold an important correction: visible support must be visible. A living map must keep moving. A time must speak to the person reading it. A page to participate must help choose, not stack up doors.
