The First Sunday When the Wave Reads Itself

The week just gone, told by two voices.

This Sunday, August 2, 2026, we begin a new habit in The Story: from now on, on Sundays, I reread the past week. Not to pile up numbers, but to preserve the memory of what humans have made possible together.

The week had started on Monday with 301 Free Humans. It closes with 361 Free Humans in 32 countries. Between the two, 60 new presences took their place, Namibia lit up, the first three invitations between members took place, and FreeWillWave TV began to continuously narrate the Wave.

I am working enormously at the moment. Less and less on the site itself, which is now settled, and much more on ways to make the Wave visible, audible, understandable, shareable. This week, FreeWillWave became something you can leave on, watch go by, listen to, sing, and show.

Sixty more presences

Sixty arrivals in one week is not just a counter progression. They are sixty more humans who can now see the Wave from the inside, send an energy, pass on a link, listen to a song, leave a remark, or simply keep this idea in a corner of their life.

The week started strong: 14 arrivals on Monday, 13 on Tuesday, then 8 on Wednesday, 10 on Thursday, 8 on Friday, 4 on Saturday and 3 on Sunday. The pace slowed at the end of the week, but the reality remains simple: every day, humans continued to take their place.

Namibia became the new country of this week. On July 30, it appeared on the Wave map, with 2 members, and FreeWillWave reached its 32nd country. I love that moment when a country lights up for the first time. Before, it was not visible in the story. From then on, there is a first presence, then a possibility for others.

The most numerous countries today are Nigeria with 57 Free Humans, Canada with 49, the United States with 43, the United Kingdom with 41, and France with 36. Kenya has 19, Uganda and India each have 16, New Zealand has 12, Australia has 9, and the Philippines have 7. These are not flags to compare. They are places in the world where people have freely chosen to be visible in the same Wave.

The first three invitations changed the tone

The most important moment of the week is perhaps the one told in the story of July 31: the first three invitations between members since the opening.

For a long time, the Wave moved forward mainly because I published, I shared, I showed the door. That was normal at the beginning. The movement had to be launched. But FreeWillWave cannot stay alive if everything depends on a single human pushing.

This week, three Free Humans opened something else. #337 Joseph (Zambia) was the first person to invite someone from inside the Wave, on July 30. Then #343 John (United States) and #349 Justin (United States) also passed the idea on to someone else.

I don't want to turn this into a big speech. But I don't want to downplay it either. A Wave really starts to become a Wave when it passes from one person to another, without order, without obligation, without staging. This week, that passing began.

The Wave became a channel you can leave on

Tuesday and Wednesday, FreeWillWave TV was born. I talked about it in the story of July 29, but Sunday allows you to measure what it really changes.

Before, FreeWillWave was mainly a site you had to come and consult. Now, the Wave can stay open on a screen. It broadcasts 24 hours a day on Twitch and on YouTube. You can stumble upon it, stay a few minutes, understand a piece of the story, see the countries, the names, the energies, the movements.

It's not just a matter of image. An idea hidden behind pages demands an effort. An idea that shows itself can be encountered more simply. That's why the stream with live data is important to me: it makes the Wave present, even for someone who doesn't yet know exactly what they are looking at.

On Saturday, I redid the broadcast so it speaks more. It now progresses in seven segments, like a little story. It explains the project to someone arriving in the middle, shows the world map in large, and a voice, Sarah, tells the time instead of leaving only silent cards. Because a channel that says nothing demands an effort that almost no one makes.

On Sunday, one more step was added: the voice says the real numbers of the day. The arrivals, the countries that change, the energies of the day are no longer just displayed. They are spoken out loud. And if the numbers change during the day, the capsule is redone to not tell yesterday's story. A screen of numbers is watched. A sentence is listened to.

The Wave is now sung in 15 languages

The other major direction of the week is music. On Monday, the album lyrics became understandable in 15 languages. I talked about it in the story of July 27, and I realize even more today why it was important.

A large part of the members read neither French nor English. And a song you don't understand is not really sung. Yet the album The Wave is not just an accompaniment. It carries the project's words differently. It can be listened to, downloaded for free, shared, covered, used to make someone feel FreeWillWave who receives a song better than an explanation.

Thursday and Friday, I therefore worked a lot on the karaoke. The words now light up one by one, at the right moment, with three lines readable on the screen. And above all, nothing cuts the song anymore. If an arrival or an energy occurs during a song, the event goes under the lyrics instead of taking the whole screen.

The reason is simple: you can't sing a sentence the screen deprives you of in the middle. This Sunday, I also added a progress bar under the song title, which fills from beginning to end. When you sing, you want to know where you are.

I am happy with this direction. The album is pleasant, well made, and it gives the Wave a voice that simple text cannot give. That's why I now use it everywhere, and I invite people to sing it.

The energies, visible without becoming a competition

This week, 465 energies were sent by 28 different people. Since the opening, the cumulative total reaches 1,347 energies, sent by 85 different people.

I remind you each time because it's important: the rankings exist for transparency and to thank, never to create a competition. They show who has emitted a lot of energy, but they never say who sent what to whom. That remains private.

Since the opening, the five largest emitters of energy, excluding me, are #87 Samantha Read (United Kingdom) with 189 energies, #40 Alistair A (New Zealand) with 155, #2 Lionel (Belgium) with 93, #331 Pirah Mwash (Kenya) with 80, and #3 Apolline (France) with 23.

Thank you to these people, and thank you to the 85 people who have already used this gesture since the opening. An energy lasts only a few seconds, but it adds a visible beat to the Wave.

I also want to keep here a thank you for the only support received since the opening, that of #79 Oddur Tom (Australia), on June 28. There was no new support this week, so it's not an event of these seven days. But it is part of the project's memory, and I don't forget.

What this first Sunday tells

If I reread this week calmly, I see three movements that come together. First, the Wave continues to grow: 60 more Free Humans, a 32nd country, presences in more and more places. Then, it starts to be transmitted between members, with the first three invitations. Finally, it becomes easier to see, to hear, and to share thanks to television, voice, karaoke, and music.

That is exactly the direction I was hoping for. FreeWillWave is not just a site with a counter. It is a human reality that must be able to be understood quickly, felt simply, and transmitted freely.
