Two countries light up, and the first human chain appears

On Tuesday evening, just two days after the first Sunday recap, the Wave had already changed shape.

We were 361 Free Humans in 32 countries. We are now 377 Free Humans in 34 countries, counted this Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at 21:00 UTC. Sixteen new presences took their place, two new countries appeared on the map, and above all, an invitation crossed a threshold that FreeWillWave had never known before.

I also have the very concrete feeling that the concept is beginning to prove itself. The newsletter went out, the live streams are running on Twitch and YouTube, the karaoke is progressing, the broadcast is becoming clearer, the Sunday podcast can now be listened to, and humans are starting to invite other humans. All this work has the same goal: to allow everyone to see what is happening while the Wave grows.

The first three-human relay

On July 31, I described the Wave's first three invitations. That was already a significant change: FreeWillWave was no longer growing only through what I published or shared myself. Humans were beginning to show the door to other humans.

Since Sunday, two member-to-member invitations have been added. The first came from Barbados: #297 Jacqueline (Barbados) invited #363 Wayne Warner (Barbados), on August 2 at 12:23 UTC. They are now the only two Free Humans in their country, and this is the first internal invitation from Barbados.

The second has a particular significance. #338 Samuel (Zambia), who arrived on July 30 because #337 Joseph (Zambia) had invited him, in turn invited #365 Jennfer (Zambia), on August 3 at 13:13 UTC.

This is the first time since the opening that an invitation reaches a third human. Until now, one person could bring another, and the movement stopped there. This time, #337 Joseph (Zambia) opened a path to #338 Samuel (Zambia), then #338 Samuel (Zambia) opened a path to #365 Jennfer (Zambia).

I don't know why they did it, nor how they know each other, and I won't make it up. What we know is more than enough: for the first time, the Wave was not just passed on once. It was passed on again.

Two countries in one night

On the night of August 4, two new countries joined the Wave map.

At 00:29 UTC, #368 Promise Ayankanmi (Netherlands) took his place and the Netherlands appeared for the first time. A few hours later, at 03:04 UTC, #371 Noel Dempsey (Ireland) opened Ireland.

These are two more small dots on a map, but they are not just two countries added to a list. Before this night, FreeWillWave had no declared presence in the Netherlands or Ireland. Since this night, these two countries are part of the story.

I really like these first gestures. A first human somewhere does not only represent themselves. They make possible a continuation in that country, a future invitation, a future suggestion, a future energy, a future shared song. That is often how a place begins: with a single visible presence.

A simple but telling fact: #368 Promise Ayankanmi (Netherlands) has already sent 4 energies since his arrival. So the Netherlands didn't just appear on the map. They have already made the Wave beat.

The energy gestures continue

Since Sunday, 167 energies have been sent by 13 different people. Since the opening, the cumulative total reaches 1,519 energies, sent by 92 people.

#376 Boki (United States) took his place this Tuesday at 19:20 UTC. Less than two hours later, 28 energies had already been sent from his profile. That's enough to enter directly into this two-day table.

What I especially want to keep visible is the movement as it happens. When someone sends an energy, it appears in the live streams, happening right now, before the eyes of those watching. This small gesture makes the Wave less abstract: we see that a presence is acting now, and that the project also breathes through these simple impulses.

A page to see everything

Since Sunday, I have also created a page that brings together the main windows of FreeWillWave: Watch the Wave grow.

Until now, the live streams existed, but they were too scattered. You had to know where to look. Now, eleven windows are gathered in one place: the live streams, what has already aired, the map, The Story, the Sunday podcast, the numbers, the Free Humans wall, the presentation, the album, and the shop.

The opening line says exactly the intention: 'You don't have to take our word for it.' That is really what I want to build. Not to ask people to believe a promise, but to give them places where they can see the Wave in the making.

Since this Tuesday evening, the red dot 'LIVE' only lights up on the windows that are actually broadcasting at that moment. A video that has already aired can be rewatched, but it is not live. Telling the truth, even about a small red dot, is part of trust.

The broadcast becomes more human

When FreeWillWave TV was born, the essential was to succeed in broadcasting the Wave 24 hours a day. Now, I'm starting to work on how someone understands what they see when arriving in the middle.

Each part of the hour now announces its name before starting. Five seconds is enough to avoid that brutal feeling of moving from one segment to another without knowing what's happening. The channel address also remains displayed throughout the hour, because someone who stumbles upon the live stream must be able to know where to go without waiting for the right moment.

The broadcast now names the last ten arrivals one by one, above the map. I didn't want a cold list. I wanted one name at a time, placed over the world, with the country lighting up behind as the person is named.

Under the karaoke, a line also says what a human has just done. An arrival or an energy can pass during a song without cutting the lyrics. It's important to me: we must be able to sing the album The Wave and see the Wave move at the same time.

The Sunday recap can now be listened to in French and English from the August 2 article. Not everyone has time to read. Two voices tell the week as a ten-minute conversation. The same episode also exists as a video prepared for YouTube, because a sound file circulates less easily than a video.

The suggestions that make the Wave fairer

Two improvements also remind us of a simple thing: the Wave gets better when humans really look at it.

On a member's public page, you can now see what time it is at their home. This was a request from #40 Alistair A (New Zealand). Writing to someone on the other side of the world without knowing if it's three in the morning at their place is not the same as writing to them at the right time.

#40 Alistair A (New Zealand) also spotted an error on the energy curve of the Wave map. The first four days of August were displaying zero even though energies had indeed been sent. It was wrong, and it is now corrected. A curve does not need to be spectacular. It must first tell the truth.

I also corrected two welcome details. A person is no longer announced twice on air when they take their place with their country a second after their arrival. And when a member prefers not to declare their country, we no longer display an awkward label in its place. We leave it empty, because that choice must remain respected.

What these two days say

These two days are not a Sunday assessment. They are shorter, tighter, almost like a breath between two major recaps. But they tell a lot.

They say that we have reached 377 Free Humans and 34 countries. They say that the Netherlands and Ireland have joined the map. They say that five member-to-member invitations now exist, and above all that the first three-human chain has taken place. They also say that the Wave is becoming more visible, more audible, easier to understand, fairer in its details.

There was no new support in this window, so I'm not turning it into an event. What moved here comes mainly from the presences, the invitations, the energies, the suggestions, and the work to better show all this.

But this Tuesday, one thing becomes clearer: FreeWillWave is beginning to show what it was supposed to enable from the start. Humans take their place, see what is happening, then some pass it on in turn. And when this movement starts to be seen, it becomes much easier to share.
