A calmer day, doors that open better

Wednesday, August 26, 2026, the UTC day is complete. After the three days recounted in When the Wave spreads by hundreds, then by thousands, The Wave surpasses 9,000 presences and learns to sustain its momentum, then Two new countries light up, and the Wave learns to be fairer, FreeWillWave continued to move forward at a more measured pace.

We went from 9,473 to 9,671 Free Humans. All 198 new presences arrived by invitation. No new country was added to the map, but the 84 countries already present remained the living ground of the Wave.

So what makes this day special is not a major threshold crossed. It is rather a day of consolidation: humans continued to transmit, energies remained very active, and several entry doors were made clearer, simpler, or finally proven by real arrivals.

Transmission continues, even when the pace changes

After the very strong days of August 23, 24, and 25, the 26th tells another part of the story. The Wave does not need to be spectacular every day to remain alive. 198 more humans took their place, and each of them arrived by an invitation.

This detail matters. It says that the Wave continues to pass from one person to another. During the day, 99 different people invited at least someone. These are not just a few large visible passages: they are many separate gestures, sometimes small, that keep the movement going.

Nigeria remains the country carrying the largest share of new presences, with 157 arrivals during the day. Brazil and Niger each count 6, France 5, India 3, and Canada 2. Progress can be followed on the Wave map, and the numbers remain accessible in the Wave in numbers.

The last presence of the day was #9671 Koki Abdullahi (Nigeria), at 23:59 UTC. It is a lovely way to close the day: almost at the last minute, one more presence was added to the story.

Invitations, energies, traces

During the day, the most numerous direct invitations come from #805 Chizo1germany (Germany), with 30 invitations, from #8724 Ibrahim shuaibu (Nigeria), with 16, and from #7987 Younoussa Kalla maillafïa dit moussa (Niger), with 4. Thanks to them, and thanks to the 99 people who opened at least one passage during this day.

Since the opening, #805 Chizo1germany (Germany) reaches 3,602 direct invitations. #2029 Nura USMAN MUSA (Nigeria) has 176, and #869 Ibrahim Sani (Nigeria) 158. These numbers keep the memory of doors opened, not just counters going up.

Energies also circulated a lot: 2,516 gestures during the day, sent by 279 different people. Nigeria accounts for 2,193, Niger 77, and Belgium 72. Since the opening, 19,193 energies have been sent.

During the day, the most active people on energies are #5453 Sadik Goni (Nigeria), with 231 energies, #9166 Sunusi Mande (Nigeria), with 204, and #6974 Abdulkarim Iliyasu (Nigeria), with 175. Since the opening, the most active are #486 Musa Muhammad (Nigeria), #514 Agba R (Kuwait), and #3377 Babayo Haruna (Nigeria).

On the support side, thanks to #79 Oddur Tom (Australia), whose $5 support remains the first recorded since the opening. The Support the project page remains open for those who want to help FreeWillWave continue.

Entry doors become simpler

An important part of my day was about entry doors. When someone arrives on FreeWillWave, the first step must be simple. They should not encounter a closed door, a confusing page, or a reconnection request that does not match their real situation.

Facebook became a real door again. After the authorization granted by Meta, the button was put back into service, and the day provided the only proof that counts: real people were able to pass through it. X also gave its first real signal, with an arrival through that door a few hours after it went live. It is not a large number, but it is a clear step: these accesses are no longer just visible buttons; they have begun to serve.

I also corrected a more discreet thing, but very important for people already present. A page could sometimes show a request to join even though the session still existed. The problem did not come from the person: the page confused a temporary difficulty with an absence of session. The result was bad, because a human could believe they had to start over even though they were still there. This confusion has been corrected at the source.

On mobile, navigation in the central area of the Wave map has also been made cleaner. The arrows no longer cover the content: they have joined the row of dots. Horizontal swiping has been reworked so that the expected gesture is really recognized, while keeping vertical scrolling and zoom natural. Again, this is not a spectacular change, but it is exactly the kind of detail that makes a page more livable.

The film takes more space where it helps

I also looked at how the two films were actually used. The short version finishes more often, but the six-minute version is launched much more: 4,853 launches and 462 completed plays in six days, compared to 889 launches and 148 completed plays in twenty days for the short version.

This observation changed an important door: the `/join` page now highlights the experience film more. The idea is simple: if a person arrives to understand FreeWillWave, show them what best explains the experience, not ask them to guess where to go.

The video player has also been made more natural. Clicking on the image starts or pauses the film, without stealing clicks from buttons placed on top. It is a small gesture, but many people already expect this behavior. When an interface responds as you imagine, it disappears a little, and the content can do its work.

The album The Wave remains the other way to enter FreeWillWave other than through the numbers. The Wave can be counted, yes, but it is also watched, listened to, and sometimes transmitted better through an image, a film, or a song than through an explanation.

Preparing the 10,000 threshold without announcing it too early

The day also served to prepare an animation for the 10,000 Free Humans threshold. The chosen theme is that of the magic sparkler: one light lights others, and the number 10,000 comes to rest in the image. The clip is ready in the administration space, but it was not scheduled during the day.

This point is important: Free Humans are not manufactured by the site. The threshold must not be announced before it exists. It will be prepared on the image side, but it will only happen when humans have actually taken those places.

I also corrected how energy animations behave when several sends arrive close together. A send must be visible. Two sends close together must not break the image, nor block the rest of the page. The decision is simple: each send restarts the animation, because each send is a living event.

The colors have also been made consistent again. An arrival is blue, an energy is gold, a support is green. The block that counts Free Humans now follows this logic. These are modest visual cues, but when many events go by live, they help to understand immediately what you are looking at.

This August 26 therefore leaves a quieter trace than the previous days, but a very real one: 198 new presences, all by invitation, 2,516 energies sent, social doors beginning to work for real people, a cleaner mobile experience, a better-placed film, and an animation ready for a threshold that is approaching.

The rest is not written by a single gesture. It will depend on the humans who take their place, on those who invite someone, on those who send an energy, listen to the album, support the project, propose an idea via messaging, or simply show a person that FreeWillWave already exists.
