The Wave advances more gently and makes supporters visible in fifteen languages

Thursday, August 27, 2026, the UTC day is complete. After the big surges told in When the Wave spreads by hundreds, then by thousands, then The Wave surpasses 9,000 presences and learns to sustain its momentum, FreeWillWave continued to move at a calmer pace.

We went from 9,671 to 9,829 Free Humans. The 158 new presences of the day all arrived by invitation. No new country was added to the map, but 84 countries remain represented, and the Wave continued to circulate through very concrete actions: invitations, energies, support, visible creations.

The thread of this day is this: less noise than at the moment of the great tipping point, but a lot of work to make what exists more readable. The Wave does not grow only when a counter rises. It also grows when a person better understands where to click, when a card becomes readable in their language, when a supporter is properly thanked, when an animation finally finds its place in the whole.

A gentler day, but still carried by invitations

After the very strong days of August 23, 24 and 25, August 27 tells another phase. The Wave does not make a spectacular leap, but it continues to pass from person to person. 95 different humans invited at least someone during the day, and all 158 new presences arrived by this route.

Nigeria again carried a large share of this movement, with 121 new presences. Brazil accounts for 12, Venezuela 4, Niger 3, Canada 2 and Congo-Kinshasa 2. These numbers do not say everything, but they keep a useful trace: even on a calmer day, several countries continue to add presences to the shared story.

The last presence recorded in the day is #9829 Samuel Peregrino (Brazil), at 23:46 UTC. It is a small end-of-day mark, but it counts: it shows that the Wave continued until the last minutes of the record.

Progress can be followed on the Wave map, and the numbers remain accessible in the Wave in numbers. These two pages become more and more important as FreeWillWave moves forward: they are not only for looking at a total; they allow seeing where presences land and how actions are distributed.

Actions remain very alive

There were many energies: 2,690 actions during the day, sent by 308 different people. Nigeria accounts for 2,327, Niger 138 and Belgium 63. Since the opening, 21,883 energies have been sent.

During the day, thank you to #5453 Sadik Goni (Nigeria), with 240 energies, to #486 Musa Muhammad (Nigeria), with 191, and to #4711 Lukman Surajo (Nigeria), with 137. Since the opening, the most active people on energies are #486 Musa Muhammad (Nigeria), with 1,062 actions, #5453 Sadik Goni (Nigeria), with 960, and #514 Agba R (Kuwait), with 841.

Invitations also keep their place. During the day, #805 Chizo1germany (Germany) has 17 direct invitations, #9688 Isah Idris (Nigeria) has 6, and #9715 Wakilu Haruna (Nigeria) has 5. Since the opening, #805 Chizo1germany (Germany) reaches 3,619 direct invitations, #2029 Nura USMAN MUSA (Nigeria) has 176, and #869 Ibrahim Sani (Nigeria) has 159.

Supporters become more visible, without taking up all the space

A large part of the day was devoted to supporters. The goal was simple: when someone supports FreeWillWave and chooses to be visible, that presence must be clear, readable and useful for others. Not an isolated box that repeats information already elsewhere, but a trace well integrated into the Wave.

On the Wave map, the latest financial supporters now appear with the same logic as Free Humans cards: a name, a number, a country, an amount, and a link to the profile when the person is public. The green color becomes the marker for support. Real actions keep their animation, but the visible list no longer confuses a supporter with a mere decorative effect.

The broadcast screen has also been adjusted. The latest support displayed must now update without waiting for the next day, and public supporters can be thanked by name in a dedicated sequence. This kind of detail changes the experience: a person who supports does not disappear into an abstract total, and those who watch understand that support really exists.

I also removed a surface that was redundant. A block dedicated to supporters had been created, then it became obvious that it repeated what the rankings at the bottom could already show. Rather than keeping one more box, the useful information was moved to where it really serves: in the existing rows, with the card, the slogan and the link.

A card written once, readable in fifteen languages

The most important change of the day may concern the support cards. A person can write their card once, in their language, then the card becomes readable in the fifteen site languages after publication. For someone visiting FreeWillWave from another country, this is not a detail: it avoids coming across a silent or incomprehensible card while all the rest of the page already speaks their language.

I wanted these translations to also respect human adjustments. If a version is corrected by hand, it must not be automatically overwritten later. And if the source changes, the affected versions must be able to be updated without erasing what a person has deliberately adjusted. The idea is simple: translating helps transmit, but the words chosen by a human keep their value.

Another problem was corrected in the process: search did not see the cards well enough. Keywords and translations were not all taken into account. Result: a card could exist in fifteen languages, but remain difficult to find in a single one. Now, keywords and translated texts can really be used to find a card.

I also added a way out where there was a dead end. When a person looks at their own support card or their profile, they must be able to naturally find where to edit it. The link to editing therefore appears in the right place for the owner, and remains absent for others. This is exactly the kind of small thing that prevents turning a public page into a dead end.

A clearer invitation, a more fitting fern

The invitation page has also been simplified in its intention. An arrival card must not try to tell everything about the person inviting. Its main function is to clearly say that one person invites another to take their place. The displayed text now follows the site languages, without imposing a personal sentence in a language that the visitor may not necessarily understand.

This correction extends the work told in Two new countries light up, and the Wave learns to be fairer: when FreeWillWave grows, small wordings become important. A poorly placed sentence can disturb the welcome. A fairer sentence can make the passage simpler.

Editing messages on mobile has also been improved. When a person edits a message, the text area must be sufficiently wide and readable, especially on phone or tablet. Again, this is not spectacular, but it is very concrete: if writing becomes painful, the conversation closes instead of continuing.

Finally, an energy animation has found a new form: the fern has become golden and better matched to the visual family of FreeWillWave. The original tribute remains preserved, but the image itself fits better into the whole. It now exists in the necessary orientations to be seen correctly depending on where it appears.

The album The Wave remains another way to make this Wave felt without going through the numbers. The experience film remains a simple entry point to pass on. And the page to send an idea or a comment continues to matter, because several corrections are born precisely from what is seen, reported or tried by real people.

This August 27 therefore leaves a more discreet trace than the previous great days, but a very important one: 158 new presences, all by invitation, 2,690 energies sent, more visible supporters, cards readable in fifteen languages, a more useful search, a clearer invitation, and an animation that finally finds its place.

The next page will still depend on the humans who take their place, on those who invite someone, on those who send an energy, listen to the album, support the project, suggest an improvement or simply show a person that FreeWillWave already exists.
